20 Second Action Story Board HW

Updated: Jun 7, 2020

For this homework we had to choose a 20 second clip of an action scene from a movie of our choice and show it in a storyboard. For this I chose the mirror maze scene from 'IT Chapter 2' in which a grown up Ben tries to save a boy from Pennywise.

The first two boxes include a pan to the right, shown with an arrow labeled 'Pan', facing the direction of the movement. Next I had to show the forward swinging motion of Pennywise's head as he hit it against the glass. I used a movement arrow to show this as clear as possible. The camera also slightly zooms// shakes forward in this clip, which I showed by drawing a secondary frame outline inside the frame. In most of the boxes I used movement arrows to clearly get across what actions are taking place in the clips. For me, one of the hardest boxes to draw was when Bill kicked the glass, as it was difficult trying to show that he was hit glass other then just lifting his foot up, and to show the movement clearly. There was many clips which were repetitive such as close ups of the characters, and pennywise repeatedly smashing his head across the glass.

I think I have drawn the 20 second clip into a storyboard quite well as it's clear what movement the actors and camera are making within a quick, action-filled scene.
