There is limited information on this artist as they aren't very well know but I like and have followed their work for a while so I wanted to include them in one of my three artist analysis'. I do know however that he is a Game Art student at Laguna College of Art and Design, based in Los Angeles and focus on 2D concept art.
The first piece I'm going to look at is 'Mouse'. After reading the artist's comment, this was on one of their earlier paintings and helped them shape their style we see used by Samuel today. This includes blotchy colouring, giving a paint stoke effect, along with block shading and tones. I really like this style as I feel it gives character to the painting and compliments the geometric shapes and rough lines, again giving the piece a paint like styling. Samuel also successfully uses highlights to show depth and lighting effects. Other then the blotchy and rough paint style, Samuel also compliments this with a few finer details such as some stray hairs, earring and extra face tones and colours. The contrast in colours however are what I feel makes this painting so eye catching. Not only does the colour of her hair and jacket work well together, but the contrast between the beige background and the bright painting creates a good contrast, especially with help from the white boarder. Another contrast I find effective, is the one between the strong design and colours on the character and the light strokes of the smoke.
