Robot - Final Overview

Updated: Feb 6, 2020

After staying behind, working at home and catching up after being away for two weeks, I have finally finished my VFX Robot project to a standard I am proud of. Although I had to back track many times and was faced with issues, this helped me get use to the software and techniques. One of the biggest and most annoying issues I faced was that the bonds on my robot would break very often and the commands in the legs would freak out. I didn't find the bonds breaking that difficult to fix as I found weight painting very easy and quite enjoyed it. However, I did find trying to fix the controls in the robots legs extremely challenging as not only would this result in me redoing the bonds, but it left me with little ability to animate the legs as I had hoped.

My overall favorite feature in this project is my robot. With help from the texturing and animation, I feel my robot has a lot of character and I'm happy I used his height to my advantage when animating as this made the final project quite interesting.

If i was to redo this project, although I love how this turned out, I would like to model my own monitor, keyboard and mouse to use other then ones already made and given to us. Within this, I would want to adjust the texture on the keyboard as it had turned out really reflective which is very noticeable in the video.

Overall, with the combination of the root model, texturing, animation and general turnout of my camera tracking and match moving, this is by far my favorite project by far and will be something I will always be proud of.
