For our induction project we had tp make a teaser video for the upcoming movie 'Game Over'. This video had to be done like a news report including shots inside a news studio, outside and photoshopped images.
In this project I had the role of animation, graphics and photoshop, along with being in one of the scenes. This meant I spent a lot of time on After Effects and Photoshop.
I found using Photoshop quite easy as I already knew the basics how ever I did use new skills I had been taught to improve the quality of my edits. I used photoshop to edit and merge photos to create abandoned and run down scenes which fit well with the topic of destruction and rioting in our video. I think these photos turned out very well as the photos came out realistic as well as professional in my point of view. These photos ether popped up during the videos or was used as a background during the third scene.
I also used After Effects to add news style graphics such as scrolling text, layouts such as the split screen on the third clip and to get rid of the greenscreen in most of the clips, although I often had problems with photos corrupting and clips not syncing up. Despite all of this I am very happy with how the graphics turned out as it looks very similar to actual news graphics and the keying (green screening) had a clean finish with little to no shadows or green patches. I found After Effects quite easy to pick up and use as if I came across any problems i managed to get around hem quickly. I think this induction project has helped me improve my After Effects and Photoshop skills which is useful to know so early on into the course.
My other role during this induction project was making sure everything was running well whist we were filming in the TV room. This included setting up the position if the cameras, communicating between the two rooms and making sure everything looks correct to do with positioning, lighting and timing of pauses between the two interview clips. I also was in the second scene as a news reporter that was talking about what violence video games has caused. I found this quite difficult as I often slipped up on my words but eventually we got a good shot. This is something I want to improve as I will often be infant of the camera during the course.
In my opinion I don't think my group worked as well as they could of together, although we all got on together, the work was often done between me and another group member. In my next group project I will make sure everyone is working on some part of the project and everyone is included as this will make the work loads equal between group members.
Overall Im happy with how this induction project has turned out and look forward to creating more project.
